Exciting Excretions

If discussion of body fluids grosses you out, read no more...

We started trying to potty train Sophia Saturday--not because she showed any particular signs of anything (other than a propensity to be totally happy to be wet and dirty most of the time), but because I'm feeling like, "This kid will be 3 in June! I need to do something." Granted, Wes is far more stalwart about the whole thing than I am. I feel fairly decent at persevering in some areas of life, but potty training is not one of them. After a couple hours Saturday, 4 puddles on the carpet, and only 1 in the potty, my stamina was waning. This is what's always happened on the occasions I previously thought I'd try to get Sophia sitting on the potty more regularly. She sits and sits and sits--and nothing comes out. And I start thinking to myself, "Maybe she's not ready? Why am I spending hours of my day trying to keep a kid on the potty for nothing?" But this time (mainly because of Wes' perseverance) we've been doing it fairly consistently for the amazing span of 4 days! Yea for Betsy! Today has been the best--2 pees and 1 poo in the potty. I never knew urine could be so doggone exciting--for all 3 of us.
