These Boots...

I'm not sure where my in-laws found these booties (They sent them to Sophia to play with along with a Cabbage Patch Kid that used to be Wes'.). They're just too cute not to put on a real baby, so here's Alathea in jeans and boots.

Talkin'

Verbal girl number 2?

Rollin', Rollin'...

Well, trying to...
I wish I could capture this on video, but, so far, no success! In this picture Alathea has rolled from back to tummy except for her left arm. She's done this a couple of times; the slight incline of the sides of the changing mat seem to help. But, like her big sister, she hates being on her tummy, so she was protesting rather loudly right before I took this shot.

The Struggle

We don't want Alathea getting jealous that her big sister gets all the video coverage, so here she is at 11 weeks, live...

CU Leaders

Please pray for the leaders of our Christian Unions as they plan and hold events on their campuses to share the good news about Jesus with fellow students over the next academic year. Here are pictures of some of them from the training weekend the UCCF London team put on at the end of February.

Pie Man

Speaking of Wes and perseverance (see previous post), here's another example. After my pie crust fiasco in the fall, I haven't had the motivation to try again. Wes, on the other hand, has been gleaning tips off cooking shows, including brushing the crust with egg wash to give it a nice golden-brown color. So, in his head-long pursuit of pie perfection, Wes is hosting a pie competition for his male colleagues. (See the invite Wes' Relay Worker, Dave, made for the event below.) Wes plans to make a meat pie for the occasion, a practice version of which you see below.

Exciting Excretions

If discussion of body fluids grosses you out, read no more...

We started trying to potty train Sophia Saturday--not because she showed any particular signs of anything (other than a propensity to be totally happy to be wet and dirty most of the time), but because I'm feeling like, "This kid will be 3 in June! I need to do something." Granted, Wes is far more stalwart about the whole thing than I am. I feel fairly decent at persevering in some areas of life, but potty training is not one of them. After a couple hours Saturday, 4 puddles on the carpet, and only 1 in the potty, my stamina was waning. This is what's always happened on the occasions I previously thought I'd try to get Sophia sitting on the potty more regularly. She sits and sits and sits--and nothing comes out. And I start thinking to myself, "Maybe she's not ready? Why am I spending hours of my day trying to keep a kid on the potty for nothing?" But this time (mainly because of Wes' perseverance) we've been doing it fairly consistently for the amazing span of 4 days! Yea for Betsy! Today has been the best--2 pees and 1 poo in the potty. I never knew urine could be so doggone exciting--for all 3 of us.

Look What Daddy Did

Thanks, Janet, for the butterfly clips and pony tail holders. They inspired us to try braids!
