Home Remedies

Sophia was recovering from chicken pox last week, so we had to stay at home to avoid infecting anyone else. Here are some of the things we did to keep the doldrums away:
 Home nail salon
 Some of Sophia's spots

 Sand table in our garden
 And swinging
 Finding a red, red rose
 And now the toes...
 A card from a friend,
 And Sophia's reply

 Water play
 Blowing bubbles
 And then catching them
 Glitter,
 Stickers,
And an ink pad and stamp--very crafty!

Homegrown Veg

Knowing almost nothing about homegrown veg and noticing that the leaves of the carrots Sophia had planted from seeds at preschool were fairly tall, I asked her teacher how I'd know when they were ready. She advised I dig away the dirt at the top of the carrot to check its diameter, mentioning when the leaves were about the size of the carrot below, we might have a decent baby carrot ready to eat. She warned that flies can eat holes in the carrot while it's still in the dirt, so with that in mind, and not being able to tell how long this carrot was after checking the top, I decided to pull it out. Disappointingly it was only 1.5 inches (about 4 cm) long, but Sophia enjoyed eating it. We're going to let the others keep growing.

The London Eye

Thanks so much Uncle Bobby and Aunt Jamie for Wes' and Sophia's trip on the London Eye (a big wheel that does a 30 minute circuit).  They enjoyed the birds' eye view!
Sophia's monkey, Belle, went along for the ride.

 St. Paul's Cathedral

Big Ben and Westminster Abbey (with the flag on top).
Dangling over the River Thames (inside a capsule).
