From the Whirlwind

I can't believe it's been so long since my last post! Life has been a whirlwind, which isn't uncommon for us. My parents struggled to get here from Lebanon last week (passports held by the authorities), but we're now enjoying all being together. And we had a Thanksgiving service (dedication) for Alathea at our church Sunday.

Sophia's in big girl underwear almost all the time now with fewer accidents, and Alathea's learning to use her arms and voice...

Hever Castle

The Monday after Easter ("Easter Monday") is a public holiday here, so Wes had the day off. We went with a colleague of his (pictured below) to Hever Castle in the county of Kent. This was Anne Boleyn's home.

Beacon--apparently if they're lit at night, you can see the next beacon, and the next beacon can see the next beacon, all the way down to the coast. An early warning system.
Oast house--unique to Kent. The two conical parts to one side of the house were used for drying out hops.
